Camp Candoit : ウィキペディア英語版 | Camp Candoit
Camp Candoit, also known as Camp Cotuit was a satellite camp of Camp Edwards. It was located in Cotuit, Massachusetts. ==History== Camp Candoit, trained three World War II units that stormed Pacific beaches including those on New Guinea.〔(Historical Store )〕 It was home to the 594th Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, which was a branch of the 4th Engineer Special Brigade. It was paired up with Camp Havedoneit and Camp Washburn, which were located nearby. The beach landings that were performed in the bay stirred up sediment which ruined the quality of the oyster beds. In the early 1990s, oil was discovered in the water. After an investigation, it was discovered that the oil was coming from underground tanks dating from World War II. The tanks were subsequently removed.
